Southwest Airlines Guidelines for Customers of Size
• Customers who intrude in any part of the
neighboring seat(s) may need to purchase the needed number of seats in advance
before traveling in order to ensure the additional seat(s) is available.
• The advance seat purchase serves as advance
notice for the airline about the special sitting need. It helps the airline to
plan better for the number of seats that will be occupied on the aircraft.
• The advance booking of extra seats helps
the airline to serve you better. Advance booked seats help the airline to
ensure that all Customers onboard have access to safe and comfortable seating.
• Customers may contact Southwest for a
refund of the cost of additional seating after travel.
• If a plus-size customer does not purchase
an extra seat in advance. They have the option of purchasing only one seat and
then discussing their seating needs with the Customer Service Agent at their
